Civil cases cover disputes between individuals, families, or businesses that don't involve criminal charges — property disagreements, unpaid dues, breach of contract, and similar matters. These cases are filed and heard in civil courts, and a civil suit in Tamil Nadu typically starts in the subordinate courts before any appeal or writ proceeding reaches the Madras High Court.
